Ukraine’s simmering war with Russia-backed fighters has claimed the lives of 13 thousand people for the 5 years.<br /><br />It is a war which the country's newly elected president Volodymyr Zelensky - a former comedian with no political experience - will have to address. <br />But a surprisingly large number of civilians die in a more unexpected way - collapsing in the queues to cross the front line. <br />Most of those crossing are elderly as they can only collect their Ukrainian pension from Ukrainian territory.<br /> At least 18 people have died waiting in queues since December 2018.
