The mother of American journalist Steven Sotloff who was taken hostage in northern Syria in summer 2013 made a desperate appeal on Wednesday. Addressing the leader of ISIS directly, she begs him to spare her son, as his captors have threatened to execute him if the United States continues its airstrikes on areas held by the extremist group.<br />ISIS is extremely active online, posting numerous messages over the past few days, saying they will decapitate Steven Sotloff if Washington does not end its airstrikes against the group.
