The mayor of South Korea's Melitopoulos was kidnapped on Friday by Russian soldiers occupying the city, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.<br />#RussiaUkrainelatest #news #MayorMelitopol<br />The mayor of Melitopol in southern Ukraine was kidnapped on Friday by Russian soldiers who occupied the city, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.<br /><br />"A group of 10 occupiers kidnapped Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov," Ukraine's parliament said on Twitter.<br /><br />The mayor was arrested while dealing with supply issues at the city's crisis center.<br /><br />In a video message late Friday, Zelensky confirmed the kidnapping and called Fedorov "a mayor who bravely defended Ukraine and members of his community."<br /><br />"This is clearly a sign of weakness for the invaders ... they have entered a new stage of terror and they are trying to physically wipe out representatives of the local legitimate authorities in Ukraine," he said.<br /><br />“So the arrest of the Mayor of Melitopol is a crime, not only against specific individuals, specific communities, and not only against Ukraine.
