Latest news about Nepali students aspiring to Study in USA | Nand Javia | UT Tyler
On April 13, 2018, a US university revoked full scholarships of 60+ Nepali students, after the US admissions cycle was over. This was unprecedented, and by many, widely regarded as the most colossal mistake in the history of US admissions. This left these Nepali students with neither a university in the States nor a university in Nepal. All of these students were amongst the highest achieving, low income students in Nepal.
Mobilizing a grass-roots effort, EducationUSA in Kathmandu and pro bono counselors from several countries managed to re-seat 50 of these students. The story is not over yet. Several students face significant financial aid gaps in order to be able to complete their university education at their new college homes. Counselors have launched a 501c3 foundation to fundraise the remaining gaps. For more information, and to see how you can help, go to the Everest Education Fund here: http://www.everestedfund.org
