Kris Aquino gets nomination at 2013 Asian TV Awards
MANILA - Kris Aquino turned emotional on Thursday as she shared her latest achievement as a television host. Aquino is nominated in the Best Entertainment Presenter/Host category of the 2013 Asian TV Awards for her morning show on ABS-CBN, "Kris TV." She happily shared that she is the only Filipino nominee in the said category. "Sa totoo lang po, sa gitna ng pinagdadaanan natin, it gives me so much pride and honor to represent our country. Of course, hindi natin alam kung si Singapore ang manalo or si Thailand, pero parang panalo na tayo," Aquino said. "Eighteen years and sinabi ko, kasi tinext ko ang mga kapatid ko, in-explain ko, 'It's me.' Thank you, of course, sa 'Kris TV' but the nominee is me as a presenter in the show that most represents me. Na 'yung araw-araw, through the good and bad, kung ano ako, 'yun ang nakikita nila. At sa mata nila ay gusto nilang bigyan ng parangal. "Just the fact that you are nominated is such a big achievement. Sorry kung nagiging emosyonal ako kasi 'yung parating sinasabi ng tao na si God nakikita talaga lahat ng ginagawa mo and all," she said. Aquino, the youngest sister of President Benigno Aquino III, said she dedicates her nomination to the Filipino people, especially those who are affected by super typhoon "Yolanda" (international name Haiyan). "Sa gitna po ng pinagdadaanan ng Pilipinas ay inaalay ko po ito sa inyong lahat. Kasi lahat po ng tagumpay, kung may tagumpay akong makukuha, ay ibinabalik ko po ito sa inyo and, of course, to my ABS-CBN family. "This victory is ours, let's claim the victory. It's a victory because tayo lang ang only personality na host. In a non-acting category, from the Philippines, nanggaling sa ABS-CBN ang ni-nominate nila at ako po 'yon. Kaya thank you very, very much," she said. Aquino also believes that her mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, is proud of her latest achievement. "Gusto ko lang i-share na unang pumasok sa isip ko, alam ko na from heaven super proud ang mom ko for this, 'yun talaga ang iniisip ko. Kasi parang sinabi niya sa akin na what you're doing should not just be for you pero dapat may higher purpose and ma-inspire. "Siguro itong nangyari na ito na Asian TV Awards, it's really for the country, pagbigay parangal sa bandila ng Pilipinas kaya thank you very much. Para sa mom ko ito, alam ko matutuwa siya." Aside from Aquino's nomination, ABS-CBN's "The X Factor Philippines" was nominated in the Best Reality Show category.
