Taylor Haberman, who was born with congenital heart disease, is awaiting a heart transplant at a medical facility in Gainesville, Florida.

She along with her family hoped the surgery would go through before her graduation, but unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Five streaming cameras were set up in the hospital to help Taylor accept her diploma in real time.

The live-video feed allowed the 18-year-old to witness her friends walk across the stage from the facility's conference room. Her classmates also got to see her, as Taylor’s sister used video calling on her iPad to essentially walk her across the floor to accept the diploma.

The new graduate’s mother stated “She was ecstatic. Just like any other senior, she did it. While it was nothing like being with your own graduating class, it was the next best thing.”

The virtual ceremony was made possible by a peer support group called Streetlight.
