Indian cricket team will tour Australia from November 2020 to January 2021. This will be India’s first international tour after the New Zealand series in February and March 2020. India’s tour of Australia will include three ODIs, three Twenty20 Internationals, and four Tests. Looking at the coronavirus situation, cricket and the players have had to adapt to the ‘new normal’. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to send a massive 32-player contingent for the Australian series. According to reports the BCCI selection committee has been told to pick a large squad so that there is a back-up for players who are injured. Also, there will be a strong group of support staff that will accompany them.
A senior BCCI official said that a large pool (group) of players will be selected so that there is no need for any player to come flying from India as the travel restrictions in Australia will make logistics very difficult. The BCCI selection committee later in the week will announce the squads for all three formats on the tour to Australia. In IPL 2020 being held in UAE, the BCCI left it to the IPL teams to decide whether they can get their family with them. But this time the BCCI has said that it will not allow the families of the players to accompany them to Australia.
